ROLE OVERVIEW: The SPEL Senior Technical Administrator / Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for the configuration, administration, and ongoing support of SmartPlant Electrical. In addition to technical mastery, this role is accountable for leading defined scopes of work, coordinating delivery teams, and interfacing directly with client stakeholders to ensure effective tool adoption and alignment with engineering standards and project requirements. The Senior Technical Administrator plays a key role in enabling digital engineering execution, while representing ReVisionz with professionalism, leadership, and technical excellence. CORE RESPONSIBILITES System Administration & Configuration Act as the single point of contact and SME for SPEL. Install product software, hot fixes, and patches (in collaboration with client IT groups where needed). Configure SPEL in accordance with client and/or project standards, including symbology, catalog/reference data, reporting templates, naming conventions, and drawing borders. Setup and manage user groups, profiles, and access permissions. Configure and manage scheduled services and procedures (e.g., backups, design checkers). Perform database integrity checks, quality audits, and manage corrective actions. Backup and restore SPEL databases and reference data. Documentation and Standards Develop user and administrator documentation, including work instructions, procedures, and manuals Create and maintain design tool instructions to support business processes. Ensure system configuration and deliverables comply with client standards and procedures. User Support and Training Provide desk-side and remote support to end users. Develop training materials and deliver training sessions for administrators and end users. Mentor client stakeholders to build capability in SPEL. Data and Reporting Create and manage reports, drawings, templates, and documents. Load and maintain material/reference data catalogs. Perform data extraction, import/export, and support data migration activities. Ensure accuracy and completeness of project data throughout the engineering information lifecycle. Integration and Process Enablement Collaborate with system integration experts to develop interfaces and integration methods with other business systems (e.g., engineering, asset management, or data warehouse systems). Support management of change (MOC) processes to ensure updates are reflected in SPEL. Identify opportunities to improve end-user performance and reduce costs. Client Engagement and Leadership Lead assigned scopes of work, ensuring delivery aligns with client standards, schedules, and priorities. Act as the primary client-facing technical leader, building strong relationships with engineering stakeholders, EPCs, and vendors. Provide strategic input and technical recommendations to client leadership, influencing tool adoption and process improvement. Mentor and guide delivery team members to ensure high-quality, consistent outcomes across projects. KEY COMPETENCIES & CAPABILITIES Technical Mastery – Expert in configuring, administering, and supporting SPEL, with strong knowledge of engineering processes and data management. Client Engagement – Skilled at leading scopes of work, interfacing with client stakeholders, and mentoring end users to build capability. Execution Excellence – Proficient in troubleshooting, data quality management, documentation, and training delivery. Collaboration & Integration – Works effectively across teams and systems to ensure standards compliance, process improvement, and business system integration. Personal Effectiveness – Strong communicator, highly organized, and accountable, with proven ability to deliver under tight timelines. Requirements Proven hands-on experience administering and supporting SPEL within Owner/Operator and/or EPC environments. Strong understanding of engineering business processes and how SPEL supports capital projects and ongoing operations. Demonstrated experience developing documentation, work instructions, and training materials. Proficiency with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) and understanding of database integrity management. Working knowledge of programming or scripting (e.g., Visual Basic, C#) is an asset. Experience performing data quality audits and ensuring compliance with project standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities. Background in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Mining, or related industries, with exposure to large projects. Must reside in Calgary, AB area or Houston, TX area. Legally authorized to work in Canada or the U.S. (citizen, permanent resident, or visa holder).
