PIP Litigation Adjuster

SCOPE: As a Litigation Adjuster for UAIC, you will be responsible for handling insurance claims that have entered the litigation process, ensuring that claims are investigated, evaluated, and resolved efficiently and in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. This role involves collaborating with legal professionals, policyholders, and claimants to reach equitable settlements or prepare for legal proceedings such as, preparing for depositions, mediations, and trials on behalf of the Company. This position offers a remote work arrangement, allowing the ideal candidate to work from their preferred location within the Southeast region. DUTIES: • Reviews PIP lawsuits filed against the Company determining course of action based on case merit. • Evaluate insurance claims that are in litigation to determine liability, coverage, and potential exposure. • Notifies underwriting of undisclosed underwriting risks. • Collaborate with the special investigation unit (SIU) when warranted. • Review policy contracts and legal documents to understand the terms and conditions relevant to the claim. • Collaborate with internal and external legal teams, including attorneys and legal counsel, to develop litigation strategies and provide necessary documentation. • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediation sessions as needed. • Conduct thorough investigations to gather evidence and facts related to the claim. • Conducts thorough review of medical bills for compliance with applicable laws, doctor’s notes, IME Reports, EUO’s and/or peer reviews. • Interview witnesses, review police reports, medical records, and other pertinent information. • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and other parties involved in the litigation process. • Work to reach mutually acceptable settlement agreements while minimizing financial exposure. • Maintain detailed records of all interactions, communications, and activities related to the claim and litigation. • Prepare comprehensive reports and updates for management and legal teams. • Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance laws, regulations, and company policies. • Stay current with changes in insurance laws and regulations that may impact claims handling. • Provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating with policyholders and claimants throughout the litigation process. • Address inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally. EDUCATION: • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., business, finance, or law) preferred. • 620 or 520 license required. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Minimum 2-3 years related work experience, preferably as a claims or litigation adjuster. • Proficient in Word, Excel, Windows-based applications, and internet usage. • Technical knowledge and skills pertaining to automobile insurance coverage. • Must be familiar with forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes. • Must be able to exercise good judgment and state opinions assertively. • Must be able to write and speak clearly and concisely. • Must be able to perform work effectively in a highly intense environment and handle multiple tasks and demands simultaneously. • Must illustrate analytical skills to identify, gather, and organize information. • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
