Contract Digital Designer

SOSO is seeking a freelance Digital Designer with a passion for both digital and physical design to work with our multidisciplinary studio on a project-by-project basis. We’re looking for a freelance Digital Designer who’s excited to design multi-sensory experiences across a wide range of scales; from mobile apps and touchscreen interfaces to architectural lighting installations and immersive environments. As a Digital Designer, you’ll collaborate with directors, architects, developers, and project managers to define problems, craft design solutions, and communicate complex ideas. You’ll contribute to projects from concept through execution, bringing strong visual design skills, creative thinking, and an understanding of the software development process. A strong foundation in graphic design will provide the basis for making compelling visual decisions across media. This is a freelance contract position. Compensation ranges from $50–$100/hr, based on experience and skill level. Your role As a Contract Digital Designer at SOSO you will: • Design cutting-edge digital experiences for a variety of media • Create new design systems and solve problems within existing ones • Participate in the entire design process from start to finish • Inspire support and excitement for new ideas through image making • Design for systems that handle live data and dynamic content • Move fluidly between UX, UI, and visual design projects • Produce mockups of physical installations • Prepare proposals and presentations to share with clients • Work collaboratively with architects, developers, and project managers to implement designs The ideal candidate: • Has expert knowledge of Figma, Sketch, Photoshop and InDesign • Has a strong visual design aesthetic and strong typography skills • Considers how an experience works in a variety of contexts, screens, and media • Possesses a keen eye for detail • Has a degree in graphic design or a related field + some experience working in a professional design environment Bonus points if: • You have working knowledge of HTML/CSS, Javascript, or Processing • You have working knowledge of Final Cut Pro • You can create motion graphics in After Effects or Motion What we offer Benefits • Generous vacation and PTO policy • Studios closed Christmas through New Years • Health insurance • 401(k) with 4% company match • Maternity and paternity leave • Paid family and medical leave Apply tot his job
