About the Opportunity The AFSP Washington Chapter LGBTQ+ Committee is rebuilding — and we’re looking for passionate volunteers to help us grow. Our goal is to make suicide prevention more inclusive and representative of the LGBTQ+ community across Washington State. This committee helps lead outreach, education, and awareness for LGBTQ+ mental health through AFSP’s statewide programs, including Talk Saves Lives: LGBTQ+, Pride outreach, and community partnerships. No nonprofit experience needed, just heart, creativity, and a desire to make a difference. What You’ll Do • Table at local Pride events, community fairs, and Out of the Darkness Walks • Help promote Talk Saves Lives: LGBTQ+ educational programs • Collaborate on social media content and campaigns • Participate in virtual meetings and brainstorming sessions • Bring your lived experience or allyship to shape how AFSP Washington represents our LGBTQ+ community Open Volunteer Roles We’re building a small, statewide leadership team. You can apply for a general member role or one of our open focus positions below: • Social Media Volunteer – Create and share awareness posts, plan campaigns, and help manage our online presence. • Web Design Volunteer – Help update our AFSP Washington LGBTQ+ web page or Google Site; create visual materials and resources. • Fundraising Volunteer – Support our Pride and Suicide Prevention Month campaigns; help brainstorm creative donation ideas. • Outreach Volunteer – Coordinate tabling events, partnerships, and community presence at local Pride and AFSP Walks. • Admin Support Volunteer – Assist with emails, Google Forms, sign-up sheets, and behind-the-scenes organization. • Program Presenter (Talk Saves Lives: LGBTQ+) – Ger trained to deliver AFSP’ educational presentation to community groups, schools, or organizations, helping to spread awareness and hope You don’t have to be an expert, just ready to learn, collaborate, and use your skills for a cause that matters.
